"Dark Triad" is a term used to represent people who demonstrate three personality attributes: Narcissism , Psychopathy and Machiavellianism .

You may encounter Dark Triad types anywhere that power is at play. In management structures, it's very common (corporate, military, policing, government services, etc) and obviously in politics.

Dark triad types are like vampires, but instead of blood, they seek status. Their narcissistic desire for status makes them thirsty for power and they will seek hierarchies simply for the status rather than for any service or good that might be achieved in the role. Any good from the role is irrelevant unless it serves their status goals.
