FAQs

  • How can you help with anxiety?

We help clients manage anxiety disorders, including generalised anxiety, social anxiety, panic disorder, and specific phobias. Our psychologists use evidence-based therapies like Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and mindfulness techniques to help you reduce anxiety symptoms and regain confidence in daily life.

  • Do you provide treatment for depression?

Yes. We support clients with depression and mood disorders using proven approaches like CBT, ACT, and Schema Therapy. Our goal is to help you improve mood, motivation, and quality of life while addressing the underlying causes of depression.

  • What treatments do you offer for PTSD?

Our psychologists specialise in trauma therapy for PTSD and complex trauma. We use evidence-based approaches like EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing), Schema Therapy, and trauma-focused CBT to help reduce distress and process traumatic memories safely.

  • Can I use NDIS?

At this time we are only accepting self-managed and plan-managed NDIS clients for psychological assessments only.

  • What ages do you treat?

Our therapy services are for clients over the age of 18 years.

Our psychological assessment service is offered to children aged 6-16 years and adults aged 17 years and over.

  • What is Schema Therapy, and who is it for?

Schema Therapy helps people identify and change long-standing patterns of thinking, feeling, and behaving that developed in early life. It’s particularly effective for those with complex trauma, personality disorders, or recurring life difficulties. Our psychologists integrate Schema Therapy to help clients create healthier ways of relating to themselves and others.

  • What is EMDR therapy?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) is a therapy that helps people process traumatic memories and reduce distress linked to trauma, PTSD, and painful life experiences. Our psychologists are trained in EMDR and tailor sessions to each client’s needs for safe and effective trauma treatment.

  • Do you have psychologists who work with DVA clients?

Yes. We have psychologists experienced in working with veterans and DVA clients. We provide assessments, reports, and therapy for PTSD, trauma, anxiety, depression, and adjustment issues related to military service. We can help guide you through the DVA referral and claims process.

  • Can I pay with cash?

No, we are cashless. If you are a privately paying client, your card details will be securely stored securely on file so payments are automatically deducted. This may also include cancellation fees.

  • Do you treat Couples or Families?

Yes, we offer couples counselling and family therapy sessions using the Gottman Method framework.

All participants must be over 18 years.

  • What is the clinic's cancellation policy?

Appointment reminders are sent via email 3 days prior to your appointment and SMS reminders are sent 2 business days prior to your appointment.

To help limit the impact on other clients who are waiting for appointments, we ask that clients please confirm their appointment by replying Y to the SMS.

If you need to change or cancel your appointment, please contact us 2 business days prior. Changes or cancellations with less than 2 business days notice may incur a fee.

Cancellation and non-attendance fees are billed at the full fee of the clinician. Please check their profiles to review their fees.

Medicare rebates cannot be claimed for cancelled sessions.

  • Can I get a report for court?

    Generally no.

The Psych Collective Clinic is a therapy-focused practice, not a forensic psychology service, which means our clinicians’ primary role is to provide treatment and support mental health recovery rather than conduct legal or court-based assessments. Court and medico-legal reports require specialist forensic training and an independent, objective role that is different from therapeutic work, and asking a treating psychologist to provide such reports can compromise the therapeutic relationship, create ethical conflicts, and place the clinician in an inappropriate dual role. For these reasons, we do not generally prepare court reports, forensic opinions, or act as expert witnesses, although in limited circumstances we may provide basic factual information such as confirmation of attendance where appropriate and permitted by law, and we can assist clients to seek an appropriately qualified forensic psychologist if a legal report is required.

  • Does the clinic use Ai?

Yes, The Psych Collective Clinic uses secure AI-assisted tools in limited and controlled ways, such as transcribing session notes and preparing draft documents, to reduce administrative burden and allow clinicians to focus more fully on you during sessions rather than on note-taking. These tools are used to support, not replace, clinical judgement, and all notes and reports are reviewed and finalised by your treating clinician. If you prefer that AI transcription is not used in your sessions, you are welcome to discuss this with your therapist and alternative note-taking arrangements can be made.
