A psychological assessment typically involves a clinical interview and/or gathering background information to review your developmental and medical history, using standardised questionnaires. During the session, we use standardised psychological tests. We may also request information from family members or other relevant sources. The exact process depends on the assessment being conducted.

Yes, all assessments (except Autism) can be done via telehealth from anywhere in Australia.

We are in NSW, so we'll schedule the appointment to suit your time zone. 

Our assessments typically include:

• Clinical interview
• Standardised cognitive and behavioural testing
• Questionnaires (e.g. parents, teachers, partners)
• Review of developmental history
• Comprehensive written report with recommendations

Most assessments start with information gathering via an online form.

Then there is an appointment to complete the assessments, either face-to-face or online. These appointments last 1.5- 4 hours, depending on the complexity. 

Finally, a report is written and shared with you.

No. You don't need a referral, as no rebates apply to assessments. However, if you have a written request from a third party seeking a specific assessment or with specific questions, please share it with us at the time of enquiry. 

Yes. ADHD and autism are distinct neurodevelopmental conditions that frequently occur together. Because some characteristics overlap, a combined assessment can help clarify whether you meet the diagnostic criteria for ADHD, autism or both. We offer combined ADHD and autism assessment packages.

Both appropriately trained psychologists and psychiatrists can assess and diagnose ADHD. Psychologists use clinical interviews, developmental history and psychological assessment methods. Psychiatrists are medical doctors who can also evaluate medical factors and prescribe medication when appropriate.
