Psychological Treatment Under Workers' Compensation (NSW)

If you've experienced a psychological injury at work, you don't have to navigate recovery alone.

The Psych Collective provides evidence-based psychological treatment for people covered by the NSW Workers Compensation Scheme, Compulsory Third Party (CTP) insurance, and Comcare for eligible Commonwealth employees.

Our clinicians have extensive experience supporting people recovering from workplace trauma, occupational stress, anxiety, depression and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

Many of our clinicians are trained in Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), an evidence-based treatment recommended for PTSD and trauma-related conditions.

  • Workplace trauma
  • Anxiety disorders
  • Panic attacks
  • Depression
  • Adjustment disorder

Our Experience with
the System

Our clinicians understand that recovering from a workplace psychological injury involves more than therapy sessions.

We regularly support clients through processes including:

  • communication with Case Managers
  • progress reports
  • Independent Medical Examinations (IMEs)
  • return-to-work planning
  • insurer reviews
  • treatment approvals

We are also familiar with the psychological impacts that can occur throughout the Workers' Compensation process itself.

Every clinician providing Workers' Compensation services at The Psych Collective is approved to provide treatment under the NSW State Insurance Regulatory Authority (SIRA).

What Happens at Your First Appointment?

Your first appointment focuses on understanding you, not just your injury.

Your psychologist will discuss:

  • what happened at work
  • your current symptoms
  • how your injury is affecting your daily life
  • your employment situation
  • your treatment goals
  • previous treatment you've received

We understand that talking about workplace trauma can be overwhelming.

Many people worry they will need to tell their entire story during the first appointment. In reality, this often happens gradually. Our clinicians work at your pace and understand that trust takes time.

Following the assessment, your psychologist may provide a brief report to your insurer outlining your current presentation and recommendations for ongoing treatment.

Make An Enquiry

If you've recently lodged a Workers' Compensation claim, or you're unsure where to start, our team can help explain the process.

Complete the enquiry form and our administration team will contact you to discuss:
  • whether we have a suitable psychologist
  • appointment availability
  • referral requirements
  • treatment approval
  • telehealth options
